In 2015,Indian railways was looking to increase the average speed of trains from 85km/h to 150km/h. They were discussing a tender with spain for a trial 10 coaches which coasting around 250 crores. That's when sudhanshu mani mmade an abnormal requestfor pre requirement posting which is generally gives to an officer who wants to retire and settle down. He wished his transfer from lucknow to integral coach factory chennai so that he can build semi high speed train and gift to it's country as a retirement gift. He demanded a budget of rupes 100 crore which was 40% less then the budget of spain train trial. In 2016, he was transferred and R&D team was put together, they worked tirelessly for two years and built the train known as TRAIN-18 OR TRAIN 2018. The train was build completely on electrical mode with AC coaches, fully automatic doors, charging sockets, wifi, lagguage racks and many more features are available in it. The Vande Bharat Express is a rare diamond and an amazing gift of Sudhanshu Mani.
